As some of you readers may know, I am of Haitian descent. Though I was born in America, I have always been captivated by and proud of my culture, our delicious food, music, arts, history and of course the language.
The Film Synopsis: The Haitian Polo Documentary is a film based on the young Haitian immigrant kids' experience in Brooklyn, New York, during the '80s and mid '90s. This documentary film goes into details about how young Haitian kids were often stigmatized, disrespected, and discriminated against because of where they came from, their indigenous culture and what they had to do to overcome all these harsh challenges and treatments. Haitian kids were often called many disrespectful names during these trying times.
DJ Scripz also speaks about a well known brand that was very popular during that time, hence the name of the documentary.
